The Jammu and Kashmir Government has initiated departmental proceedings against several officers of the Public Works (R&B) Department over delay in snow clearance and unauthorized absence from duty, which led to disruption of road connectivity and essential services in parts of Kashmir.

According to an official communication dated January 27, 2026, the action follows observations made during the visit of the Deputy Chief Minister, J&K, to the Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC), Srinagar, on January 25. Complaints were received from public representatives and delegations from Shopian, Anantnag, Imamsahib, Tangmarg, Zainapora and other areas regarding poor snow clearance.
