Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has officially announced a further extension of winter vacations for schools falling under the Summer Zone of the Jammu Division.
According to Order No. 17-DSEJ of 2026, dated 14-01-2026, all Government and Private schools in the Summer Zone will now remain closed until January 17, 2026.

The decision has been taken in view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions in the region. The Directorate had previously issued an order (No. 16-DSEJ-2026) on January 11, but the continued harsh weather has necessitated this further extension.
Key Guidelines for Schools, Staff & Students
The order outlines several critical instructions:
Applicability: The vacation extension applies to both teaching staff and students.
Board Exams: The extension will NOT affect scheduled examinations. Board Examinations for Classes 10th to 12th shall be conducted strictly as per the notified schedule, if any.
Online Classes: Schools have been directed to explore the possibility of conducting online classes for students from Class 6th onwards to ensure academic continuity.
Republic Day Preparations: The preparation for Republic Day 2026 shall be conducted strictly as per the schedule notified by the competent authorities, despite the vacation.
Official Authority
The order was issued and signed by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary (JKAS), Director of School Education, Jammu.
