JK Police Medal for Gallantry: Fifty-two Jammu and Kashmir Police officers and personnel have been conferred with gallantry and service medals on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, an official said here on Sunday.
In an official statement issued here, a copy of which was accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the list included 17 officers who received the Medal for Meritorious Service, 33 personnel who were conferred the Medal for Gallantry, while two officers of the rank of Deputy Inspector General received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
“Among those awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service are three Inspectors General of Police—Mohd Suleman Choudhary, Sujit Kumar, and Vivek Gupta,” the statement reads.

“In addition, two senior officers, Deputy Inspectors General of Police Haseeb Mughal and Nisha Nathyal, were conferred the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service,” it reads, adding that 33 J&K Police personnel were awarded the Medal for Gallantry for acts of bravery in the line of duty.
“The recipients include Deputy Superintendents of Police Javaid Ahmad Lone, Mohd Ashrif, and Mohan Lal; Inspector Younis Khan; Assistant Sub-Inspector Davinder Kumar; Head Constable Shabeer Ahmad Narwaroo; and several other officers and personnel across ranks,” reads the statement further.
The gallantry awardees also include IPS officer Tanushree, Senior Superintendent of Police Shabir Nawab, and a number of inspectors, head constables, selection grade constables, and constables from various districts and units of the force.
