The Jammu and Kashmir Information Technology Department has successfully encadred 44 IT officials who were earlier appointed on substantive IT-related posts across various government departments in the Union Territory.

This marks the first major step in a phased encadrement process, under which remaining IT personnel will also be brought under the J&K IT Services cadre. The department is simultaneously working on establishing dedicated IT Directorates in Jammu and Kashmir to enhance administrative control, technical oversight, and coordinated implementation of digital initiatives.

The encadrement has created clear promotion avenues, addressed long-pending career progression issues, and brought uniformity in service conditions, significantly boosting morale among IT professionals. A unified IT cadre is expected to improve human resource planning, e-Governance delivery, cyber security operations, data centre management, and adoption of emerging technologies.

Encadred officials have appreciated Secretary IT, Piyush Singla, for his proactive leadership in resolving cadre-related issues and driving institutional reforms. The IT Department reaffirmed its commitment to capacity building, cadre reforms, and strengthening digital governance across Jammu and Kashmir.
