The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued Circular No. 01/2026 dated January 1, 2026, serving as a “Reminder-1” to all affiliated schools regarding the conduct of Practical Examinations, Projects, and Internal Assessments for Class X and Class XII.

Start Date: The Annual Practical Examinations / Internal Assessment / Projects for the session 2025-26 were scheduled to commence from January 1, 2026.
Instructions for Schools
The board has outlined five critical actions that schools must take immediately to ensure the timely and smooth conduct of exams:

Check Answer Books: Schools must ensure that a sufficient number of practical answer books have been received before the scheduled dates. If there is any shortage, they must contact the concerned Regional Office immediately.

Notify Parents & Students: Schools are required to inform parents and students about the schedule of the practical exams and ensure they are aware of the strict compliance instructions issued by CBSE.

Lab Readiness: Schools must verify that necessary infrastructure, equipment, and materials are available in the laboratories and that facilities are adequately set up for students to perform experiments.

External Examiners: Schools must contact the External Examiners appointed by CBSE well in time to coordinate the smooth conduct of the assessment.

Arrangements for CWSN: Specific arrangements must be made for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) to ensure they can participate in the practical examinations comfortably.
