In a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at streamlining the functioning of the education sector, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has assigned the charge of Chairman, J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) and Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to two senior officers as an interim arrangement.
According to Notification S.O 08 issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) today, January 12, 2026:
Results Ready, But No Approval
Speaking to Excelsior, Secretary JKBOSE Ghulam Hassan Sheikh confirmed that:
- The Class 10 result has been ready for the past one week
- The Class 12 result is in its final stages and is expected to be ready within a few days
- However, results cannot be declared without a Chairman
“The Result Committee of JKBOSE consists of six members and is headed by the Chairman. His presence and approval are mandatory for declaring the results,” Sheikh stated.

He further assured that the moment the Chairman is appointed, the Class 10 result will be declared immediately, followed shortly by Class 12.
Over 95,000 Students Waiting
As per official data, nearly 95,000 students appeared in the Class 10 annual examinations last year, conducted across 994 examination centres in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Break-up of Candidates:
- Kashmir Division (10 districts): 68,804 students
- Winter Zone, Jammu Division: 25,224 students
- Kargil: 660 students
- Leh: 95 students
The prolonged wait has left students and parents anxious, as result declarations are crucial for admissions, stream selection, and future academic planning.

Students and Parents Express Distress
Students say the uncertainty is mentally exhausting.
“For the last week, we are being told that the result is ready, but it has still not been declared. It’s very stressful to wait without any clarity,”

Parents echoed similar concerns, questioning why students should suffer due to administrative delays.
Why the Chairman’s Appointment Matters
Under JKBOSE regulations:
- The Chairman heads the Result Committee
- No result can be officially notified without the Chairman’s approval
- Even if tabulation and verification are complete, legal and procedural norms must be followed
This has effectively put the entire result process on hold.
What Happens Next?
- The government is expected to appoint the JKBOSE Chairman soon
- Once appointed, Class 10 results will be declared first
- Class 12 results will follow shortly after
Officials have maintained that there are no technical or evaluation-related issues, and the delay is strictly due to the vacant Chairman post.
